GOURI, Profhilo, and Re2O differ in what goes into the syringe. GOURI is liquid polycaprolactone (PCL) dissolved in water, Profhilo is a high concentration of hyaluronic acid, and Re2O is finely milled dermis from donated skin after the cells are removed.

What does each syringe put into the skin?
GOURI’s PCL is a polymer also used in sutures. It is dissolved in water with no particles and spreads across the face. According to the manufacturer, it stimulates collagen-producing cells as it breaks down; it is injected into the dermis or subdermal layer. This liquid behaves differently from a particle filler that builds volume in one spot.
Profhilo combines two molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, stabilized by heat, with no chemical crosslinker. At the cellular level, signals related to collagen and elastin rise. Re2O consists of particles of donated human dermis with the cells removed; the treatment places that collagen-and-elastin scaffold into the mid-dermis. How do sessions, swelling, and bruising differ?
GOURI uses 10 points on the face. The base is 1 session, and severe cases add 1–2 sessions 4–6 weeks apart. The first change comes at 1–2 weeks. Profhilo is injected at five points on each side, from dermis to subcutis, in 2 sessions 30 days apart, and later maintenance is optional every 2 months. In the Re2O trial, it went into the mid-dermis in 3 sessions a month apart, and that syringe also holds non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, saline, and an anesthetic.

Frequently asked questions
Q1. Does the injection hurt?
All three use a needle. Profhilo’s reactions include a light pinching sensation. When Re2O is mixed with hyaluronic acid, an anesthetic goes in with it.
Q2. What do you watch after the first session before the next one?
For GOURI, severity after the first session decides whether more sessions are added. For Profhilo, maintenance after the initial course is optional. In the published trial, Re2O was given 3 times, one month apart, and the actual number of sessions is set in consultation.
Q3. Is GOURI’s breakdown time the same as its effect duration?
GOURI’s 6–12 months is how long the material takes to break down in the body; it is a different figure from how long an effect lasts.
Q4. Can I have filler or botulinum toxin in the same period?
According to the manufacturer, GOURI can be given on the same day as botulinum toxin or a non-cross-linked skin booster. People in the Re2O human trial had no facial filler, botulinum toxin, or laser for 12 months.
Q5. What if bruising lasts, or I am breastfeeding or on an anticoagulant?
GOURI has cases of bruising that lasted months under the eyes, at the puncture point, and on the upper arm, and they resolved with later treatment. Seek immediate care for shortness of breath, a widespread rash, or severe itching. Profhilo’s bruising and small bump usually settle within 72 hours. The Re2O trial left out people who were breastfeeding and people who had used an anticoagulant in the 2 weeks before screening, and the reactions in the remaining group were temporary redness and mild swelling.
